Guru Charitra – Experience and thoughts.

So read this book – “Guru Charitra”

Writing few words on reading the English translation of this book. The Marathi version is very much in detail and is read with a particular discipline. I followed the “Parayan” reading rules for reading the book. Which meant i read chapters in bunch as prescribed for best uninterrupted experience to get the expected essence from the book.
Understanding this needs one to have faith in the stories that have happened in real. Reading books like this helps you to understand why is the particular person or diety worshipped. Many might reject the devotion or love by ignoring to read. But i feel reading one gets a Glimpse of what is that which was revered so much and helps you to interact with community following it with so much reverence. One must read with an open mind. Faithful people will find solace in the book. The explanation of misery through cause and effect or Karma spanning not just this lifetime but also from past and subsequent relieving experiences might act as solace to many.
I found this book amazing and it talks in detail through life stories of Gurudev Sri Narasimha Saraswati and Gurudev Sripad Shri Vallabha about the many questions that come across people.
Right from Karma Kanda to Gyana to Bhakti to letting know everything has some reason and that pure love, praytna, prayaschitta, devotion can let you cross any dungeon or mountain that traps you into viels of misery.
It also helps us give perspective into aachar / code of conduct that can benefit and give many peace of mind.
It goes to explain through many examples that all that misery never stays for long and that Divine is every listening. It also tries to make us understand many of life miseries are a direct result of our own action and sincere prayer and vow and readiness for repentance is the best remedy.
An open disclaimer is also given which talks that certain things were right according to the time period of the stories and users should read it with discretion.
Overall reading it definitely acts and gives effect as a soothing balm to the troubled/ inquisitive / doubtful mind. I recommend this to be read by all.

Life after Breakup!

Breakup (rhymes with startups) is now normal. If you are human, breakups do happen.

Here is a narrative from the diaries of Breakup phase taken from first person perspective and experiences of people who have interacted with me.

Breakup? Now what?

Breakup? Now what?

“What happens when breakup happens?”
Hope this honest narrative resonates some of you. Maybe sympathize or console you or let you be out of that phase!

Here is a typical cycle seen in no order and can repeat “n” number of times.

Chapter A. You Question about it.

Chapter B. There is a lot of Introspection to both sides of breakup story.

Chapter C. You remember your relationship again and again and sort of make efforts to get the old moments back.

Chapter D. You seem to give up and think or make move for someone else.
These can happen just like in any random order and can stay for as long as the ego – mind complex is not satisfied with!

Let’s take these one by one.

Chapter A. You Question about it.

what now?

what now?

As the last confirmation came of becoming just “friends”, I remember the moment clearly. There was only one question – Why?
Why and why haunted like hell!
I mean how can she do that?
How on earth can this even happen?
But then what happened throughout? What to it?
Why this turn around?
Can we not negotiate?
Can we not adjust?
Outrageous and pleading – oscillations happened at top speeds.
Regret and anger changed places so fast.
There was no peace.
It was either i was the victim or she was.
Mind either choose to be defensive and angry or feel guilty and regret.
It was tough. Mind wanted answers and even though it may get it , it was not ready at all to accept it.
It sought the relationship back.
It refused to absorb the present. It just refused to.
That is how the complex the mind was..

Look carefully, love is so powerful – It can ignite you to the superpower to do anything..Good or bad.
It can make you weak too.
It can make you blind to seeing anything else, than the other person. It can make the other person as the center of the universe. All you will see is the person and no one else.
Priority will happen next to your loved one.

And when love has powered you so much. imagine how will you feel when you lost it immediately?

Perhaps that’s how people who hoarded black money must have felt 😉
Totally helpless and powerless and exposed when Demonetization of currency was introduced.

Suddenly the heart comes in a state of emergency.
Whom shall it express its vastness?
Whom shall it live for?
Life can be tough for breakups!

You live in the “Why” all along! Listening to countless sad songs and listening to all the lyrics. Sitting lonely in some dark corners, on the rocks of the beaches staring at the Sun and showing your scarred heart!

And when so many questions have just arrived your inbox, you have been shut to answers.
You literally are at loss of words, action on what to do next!
Imagine the helplessness.Sigh!

Chapter B. There is a lot of Introspection to both sides of breakup story.

introspection?

introspection?

When the “why” has settled for sometime, you wake up to become the next optimist or pessimist. You dig for the possible conclusions to present answers to the “Why”
You become your own judge and lawyer.

I have often wondered, what happens in breakups..where does it go wrong ?
Quite often noted, the intentions had changed.

In a relationship, first you seek love.
Then you seek respect, commitment, trust and care for your ambitions.
Ever if you fail in these tests at any point of time, your intentions change to just physical intimacy and selfishness ..Relationships can hit hard then.

Many a times, you both begin with a mutually agreed intention.
You know how much you will stretch for each other.
But love can change everything. Your physical presence and your desires can change your intentions very quickly. One who is loitering around to just have fun can become serious and turn into a one man/woman person and one who is a one woman/man person can become the opposite.
Love is enticing and can fool you!

At any point if you let the relationship become the center of your life, it can just ruin everything around you. You know why? Because you would want to spend more time with your partner than things around you. Gradually one of you would just hate that! And guess what is easiest to do then? Blame and say its best to break up.
Its easier to blame on life and other’s actions, than take responsibility for your actions or explain the situation and wait for a change!

Life indeed becomes complicated, when you mess routine things in your life with your love life!
So what is easier to do then? Breakup! Better to drop it than let your life be dragged by it.
Breakup often is a last choice. It is not easy for many, but when things don’t seem to change for the good, it seems the only option for one!

Hard to digest both sides later, but the only choice left to the one taking this decision! World might seem useless to you thereafter!

Introspection happens. You will commit to it and then you will blame too.

Over period of time though, you will see these things lose power over you. One day you will definitely wake up and say, what was i doing the whole time? Was i drunk? Why did i lose my mind and time in that? One day you will say that. You will laugh at your own reaction. You will laugh at your own exhibition of emotions!

There are early conclusions too from these introspection and they can be disastrous..!

I remember in House of Cards [English TV Show], there was one scene where the Congressman Underwood sits with the parents of the deceased daughter and asked them when the Congressman was blamed for the death of their daughter.  – “What do you want me to do? Resign? Just say it?”
There was so much anger in the parents and it could not be contained with a simple apology. Resigning would not have helped. Nor killing him. The damage was more. It could not be repaired or replaced by any act of violence other than satisfying your anger. In such a state of helplessness, the anger can be so powerful that it would want to express itself. There are instances where the person felt the urge to express this anger and have harmed the other person in return via acid attacks. What happened then? It felt, if it cannot be mine, it should be for none! There have been such adverse reactions too! Such one sided interpretations can be disastrous! Introspection can help. Interpretation based on little or no communication can create problems for both!

Love can give you power to build a world full of joy. And you dare deny it and it can make you sad and feel closed, violent and helpless.

Love is expressive. It talks with the presence. It talks with the touch. It talks with words. It talks with the many actions on the level it has touched your heart!
Love can be beautiful and love can make you ugly.

There are some who stick go through the introspection. Some realize mutually and regain their relationship. Some give up and find someone else. And there are some who neither choose others and nor make a bold move to regain old relationship and keep living in the memories for years to come. Making regret the center of their life. Yeah Devdas exists!

Chapter C. You remember your relationship again and again and sort of make efforts to get the old moments back.

come back please!

come back please!

When the why and the introspection has subsided, some days you might just wake up to living those moments again. Trying your every bit to find contact with the person, again.
You may struggle for words but look for all sorts of opportunities to let your presence speak. Dramatic may it sound, but yes, some do go through this phase.

Chapter D. You seem to give up and think or make move for someone else.

back to square one.

back to square one.

It’s time. You say to yourself. You find nothing happening on the other side. Deep down, you know it, it’s not going to happen again. You choose to just bury those memories and start afresh. You start looking around again, for a hint, one moment, one glance, one step from the other side. To let open your heart again. To rejoice in those moments, again!

now what?

now what?

So what happens in life post breakups? Majorly all of the above and maybe more..!
Lucky are the people who get guidance on what life is.. Life is more than a broken heart. Than the luxury of the physical intimacies!
No matter how many times you have hugged or kissed the person. The end of the relationship can never be predicted. So what preserves love? Wisdom preserves love!
and what is that wisdom? That you are more than your feelings and the experience. That there is so much to give than just be a taker of love.

To sum it up.. what will prevent breakups?
Knowing how love is 🙂
Live the mantra and stay safe 🙂

Love is

Love is.

Hope your relationship grows with gratitude, respect, trust and commitment towards each other!

To love and beyond.
Wishing you all.
Swapnil.

How powerful can the mind be?

Most of us encounter so many events during the whole day.
Unconsciously our mind gathers data from around.. what people say,  what you see,  you hear.. There is a constant analysis automatically happening based on the data you perceive from things around you..

Power of the Mind
This wholesome set of data build what you call a judgement inside the mind..
A quick equation is made referring to the sea of information that the mind has stored through present day experiences.
You won’t even realise and you will find yourself at times defending your own subconscious judgements..
It is only when someone point it out that you will realise that it exists.
Does this happen with you too?

While it’s impossible to stop the data gathering and unconscious judgement. We can definitely train our mind to not get indulged in that too often..
Yes, you could gradually train our mind to stop storing things that make no sense.
When and how would that be possible?
That, your mind will learn to drop indulging in things that don’t matter but become a part of our life?

By constantly building our priorities in life.
Remember the phrase – Mind your own business.
Easier said than done. How do we mind our own business? With almost no control over how the mind will think next?
Is it possible to tame the mind? To alter it’s thought process?
Let’s dive in and see..
We all rest but does our mind rest?
We all sleep but unfortunately like Internet browsers we don’t have a manual option to clear the browsing history, to clear the cache .. Like the browser we move through different thoughts and more often store some data from every thought. This data stays and stays. There is no way it is erased. We never do anything for it!
We never clear our minds with these unconscious data collected..

Meditation for Wellness
When we meditate, it is very much possible to allows these thoughts to clear your subconscious mind.
As one progresses in meditation one will realise the power of it.  Meditation empowers the mind to process and keep things that matter. To learn from the good and not hold on bad for long.

One question might arise that what if the event has something really good to offer.. In that case you definitely don’t drown in Good memories either 🙂

As one learns to consciously keep the good, it adapts itself to process & keep things clear.  The right priorities happen. The unconscious indulgence stops gradually.
One then slowly learns to focus on what’s important.  Your ability to give back increases. When the garbage in the mind is removed.. YOU find clarity.. YOU find purpose and you will naturally take responsibility.. Responsibility of your own mind, body, family and society.
Choices happen instantly. You give as Good as you get.

All the issues arise at some stage in the mind and reflect on the body-behaviour aspect and soon tend to define your character for others.
The only way to reflect good is to work on the inside.. The mind! A clear mind soon takes charge of everything. It works to keep you best and does the same for things around!

We all this have one opportunity now..
The Happiness Program..
Offered by the Art of Living which Majorly helps one de-stress our body and Relaxes our mind through the world accepted Sudarshan Kriya.
This remarkable technique will help you embark on your journey to train your mind and body to relax and be better than before!

Worth a try! What say?  🙂

“How to Write Effectively” – Startup Guide for anyone wanting to write.

Penning down some of the things that you might consider as your best friend to write a post that communicates and narrates rather than just inform. Consider them as your best friends in crafting an effective post to speak what you feel and experience and know.

Tip to Craft an Effective Post

Tip to Craft an Effective Post

1) Right from the start of the line. use proper punctuation. Make subject clear to the reader.

2) Use words, reading which one can easily understand what you want to say.

3) Use long sentence in the header, in case you cannot convey in a word or two.

4) Don’t separate yourself from the audience, if you are conveying a lesson you have learnt.
Use the words  : ‘Us’, ‘Ours’, ‘We’  than ‘I’, ‘me’, ‘mine’.

5) Remove repetitive lines. This, you will learn to unlearn, when you keep reading. You will soon get to know what words are repetitive.

6) When you are attempting to write a conversation, use punctuation and express the right question. Imagine someone is actually sitting in front of you. How will you talk?
Remember the pause you take, even that pause makes the conversation understandable.

Consider this sample sentence :

1) Are we going to be happy forever after that?
2) Are we going to be happy after that, forever?

See how just a change in position of the last three words and the punctuation, comma makes the difference!
First line is so straightforward.
Make it involving. Like a dialogue. How will you talk in actually, like that!  Then it will engage the audience more in your writing. Just like how the conversations run in the mind, just put them like that, word to word.

Now, have a look at this sentence : “No, then there will be another desire..& it will go on…”

This sentence might puzzle someone : What will go on?

So many times, we are clear in our mind, of what we want to say and take it for granted, that people will understand it.

To avoid any questions, write it giving references, deliberately – with purpose.

So a revised sentence could be : “No, then there will be another desire &  this cycle of wanting something & desiring for more will go on..”

Involve the audience in your writing.

So, How did the question arise in your head? Say that sincere question!
Avoid “I” whenever you can if you are talking about a lesson. Use We, Us, Lets. This creates a feeling of inclusion, that the lesson and the learning is normal and part of all of us.

Another set of sentences :
1) “May i get that something or not. My happiness is not going to change according to my desires.”

2 )
“Whether i get that something or not, my happiness is not going to change according to my desires.”
Take this firm decision.

Observe both sentences, in the first, the point is made but left with a statement. Second one emphasizes the urgency.

So remember, When you make a strong point, emphasize on it.

Here – “Take this firm decision” is an emphasis. You stress on that line again.

Deliver the impact, don’t wait for the audience to get that experience, give that experience.

( Sentence 1 )

“Now you are Happy”

( Sentence 1 – edited )

“That confidence & faith will bring peace in you and eventually make you happy.”

Be clear in giving the experience.

What makes me happy? What would make me happy? It is that feeling of confidence and faith that will make me happy.

So you see, we have got that learning, we have experienced, but we take it for granted and skip it with habit and thus end up not expressing the sentence completely.

(  Sentence 2 )

“Now you can take tension free steps to get anything in life (as you are already Happy)”

( Sentence 2 – edited )

“You will feel ready to take steps to achieve anything in life.”

Frame it correctly. Sometimes you may write something and then realize, oh! something is missing.

So re-write it again.
The last word should leave the reader complete, with the experience.

The last word should leave the reader, complete with experience.

But How is that going to happen?

1) Write it from the first thought to the last thought.

2) Use proper pause. Use commas and punctuation and write in full words, avoid shortcuts – short words – SMS/chat language.

3) Write more. Read whenever you can. You will see a lot of how to write in flow in write-ups that engage you more in the write-up 🙂

Involve the audience, lead them into a conversation. 🙂

Write first, add punctuations then.

Take a break and read it again. 🙂

Sometimes we write being emotional or in the feeling of Aho Niranajana – When it clicks and so we miss out on writing the tiny details that make it a experience.

So take a break and re-read it after some time and then again overlook the flow, the punctuation and make the necessary edits 🙂

and last of all, don’t worry how the audience will take you – they might or might not appreciate you. Just take the lesson of writing and move on.

Improve on writing. Don’t feel down by critics. 🙂

Even you can be an awesome writer!

At least just this intention and practice is good enough :))

If not still go on voting Day and check if your name exists on that day through the volunteers generally present around your booths on voting day.
If your name is not there —
Bad news -> apply again after MAY for future.

3) If your name is in electoral list, and got voter ID, but shifted to another city, state, area and you did not change to your current residing area – YOU CAN Still VOTE with self effort. Please spend ur precious money & time to travel to ur constituency to exercise your right to vote.
Because your country is precious.
YOU call her Bharath”Maata” for a reason.

4) IF There is mistake in Voter ID
“spelling of name” ( no stress),
“age” (no stress), “address” (slight stress, go to the polling booth corresponding the wrong address & vote this time).
Later u can fill appropriate forms to make any sort of correction.
5) If you haven’t applied. Puppy Shame.
Don’t get carried away by whatsapp forwards by EC, that you can vote if u just show up with documents on voters-day. That’s a big fat rumor. All you can do is just pray for the country this time.

Any government which can garner max. votes. so that atleast some sensible work can happen.

Trivia :
Mumbai is divided into constituencies..
Each constituency is further divided into parts..
Each part comprises of a selection of areas..
Lets take an example…
I stay at Building A, like wise there is building B,C,D,E
Together a selection of buildings like A,B,C,D,E etc are given a unique name : That is in technical term a PART number
several such PARTS are put under a bigger category : Constituency!

There exists a further higher classification : District wise :
A major selection of constituency is put under a certain district!

LETS take a practical example :
Amit Society is in Mulund.. Likewise there Mukti Towers, SnehBandhan and few others in the vicinity.. These are all given a PART number – 122
Like wise there are other PARTS
together all PARTS are placed in a “CONSTITUENCY” or a greater area :
So my society comes under “Mulund Constituency” and its technical number is 155..
My constituency is then listed under Mumbai Subarban

So if i have to search my name i need to look for Constituency 155 , PART number 122 to precisely locate my building name!

20 Scientific Reasons to Start Meditating Today: New research shows meditation boosts your health, happiness, and success! ~ Emma Seppala

THE ORIGINAL ARTICLE IS  posted here : http://www.emmaseppala.com/20-scientific-reasons-to-start-meditating-today/#sthash.wqqJ2O0B.jilnuoJe.dpbs

I started meditating soon after 9/11. I was living in Manhattan, an already chaotic place, at an extremely chaotic time. I realized I had no control over my external environment. But the one place I did have a say over was my mind, through meditation. When I started meditating, I did not realize it would also make me healthier, happier, and more successful. Having witnessed the benefits, I devoted my PhD research at Stanford to studying the impact of meditation. I saw people from diverse backgrounds from college students to combat veterans benefit. In the last 10 years, hundreds of studies have been released. Here are 20 scientifically-validated reasons you might want to get on the bandwagon today:

It Boosts Your HEALTH

1 – Increases immune function (See here and here)

2 – Decreases Pain (see here)

3 – Decreases Inflammation at the Cellular Level (See here and here and here)

It Boosts Your HAPPINESS

4 – Increases Positive Emotion (here and here)

5 – Decreases Depression (see here)

6 – Decreases Anxiety (see here and here and here)

7 – Decreases Stress (see here and here)

It Boosts Your SOCIAL LIFE

Think meditation is a solitary activity? It may be (unless you meditate in a group which many do!) but it actually increases your sense of connection to others:

8 – Increases social connection & emotional intelligence (see here and – by yours truly – here)

9 – Makes you more compassionate (see here and here and here)

10 – Makes you feel less lonely (see here)

It Boosts Your Self-Control

11 – Improves your ability to regulate your emotions (see here) (Ever flown off the handle or not been able to quiet your mind? Here’s the key)

12 – Improves your ability to introspect (see here & for why this is crucial see this post)

It Changes Your BRAIN (for the better)

13 – Increases grey matter (see here)

14 – Increases volume in areas related to emotion regulation, positive emotions & self-control (see here and here)

15 – Increases cortical thickness in areas related to paying attention (see here)

It Improves Your Productivity (yup, by doing nothing)

16 – Increases your focus & attention (see here and here and here and here)

17 – Improves your ability to multitask (see here and here)

18 – Improves your memory (see here)

19 – Improves your ability to be creative & think outside the box (see research by J. Schooler)

20. It Makes You WISE(R)

It gives you perspective: By observing your mind, you realize you don’t have to be slave to it. You realize it throws tantrums, gets grumpy, jealous, happy and sad but that it doesn’t have to run you. Meditation is quite simply mental hygiene: clear out the junk, tune your talents, and get in touch with yourself. Think about it, you shower every day and clean your body, but have you ever showered your mind? As a consequence, you’ll feel more clear and see thing with greater perspective. “The quality of our life depends on the quality of our mind,” writes Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. We can’t control what happens on the outside but we do have a say over the quality of our mind. No matter what’s going on, if your mind is ok, everything is ok. Right now.

It Keeps You Real

Once you get to know your mind, you start to own your stuff and become more authentic, maybe even humble. You realize the stories and soap operas your mind puts you through and you gain some perspective on them. You realize most of us are caught up in a mind-drama and become more compassionate towards others.

Myths about Meditation

Having an empty mind—nope, in fact, when you start meditating, you’ll find its quite the opposite

Sitting in lotus position—nope, you can sit on the couch (just don’t lie down, you’ll fall asleep)

Sitting for an hour a day—nope, small doses work just fine, (see here and – by yours truly – here)

Chanting in a language I don’t understand—nope, not unless that floats your boat

Buddhist, Hindu or religious—nope, not unless you make it so

Weird—what’s so weird about sitting and breathing? Besides, US congressmen, NFL football leagues and the US Marine Corps are doing it, how weird can it be?

Wearing robes—what?

“I can’t meditate” because

I can’t clear my mind—no worries, while you’re sitting there you’ll experience the noisy chaos of a wound up mind that’s unwinding: tons of thoughts, feelings and emotions. Don’t worry about how you feel during, notice how you feel after and throughout the rest of the day

I can’t sit still—that’s ok, just sit comfortably, fidget if you need to

I get anxious—that’s also normal, all the junk’s coming up, learn some breathing practices to calm yourself down, exercise or do yoga before meditating

I hate sitting still—that’s fine, then go for a walk without your earphones, phone etc; or start with yoga; or do breathing exercises…give yourself time to just “be” without constantly “doing” something

I tried and I hated it—there’s not just one kind of meditation, there’s a whole menu out there, look for the shoe that fits: mindfulness, Transcendental, compassion, mantra, Vipassana, Art of Living breathing practices, yoga nidra, yoga, insight, loving-kindness, tai chi etc…

I don’t have time – if you have time to read an article about meditation all the way through, you have time to meditate. Think of all those minutes you waste every day on the internet or otherwise, you can definitely fit in 20 minutes here or there to give your life a boost! Gandhi is quoted as saying “I’m so busy today, that… I’m going to meditate 2 hours instead of 1.”
